Internet Safety Day

March 6, 2020 by Niki Jones
Safer Internet Day Official Banner

This term we have looked at being safe online. In February it was also Safer Internet Day, which is a worldwide campaign to make the internet a better and safer place for all but perhaps especially young people.

This year the theme was ‘Free To Be Me’, which means that we should be able to express our feelings in a positive way.

Each class took part in different activities which were all based around your identity and freedom of expression online.

Sycamore rated people online by their username, behaviour and respect to other people on the internet. We also said what our favourite things to do online is.

Before this event, year 5/6 were learning how to be safe online in other ways, such as why emojis can sometimes mean different things to different people. We have also talked about what to do if we get a message or see something we don’t like: tell a trusted adult straight away.

We will be continuing to revisit these important messages throughout the rest of the year.
