I am Michael McHugh, the Rector of the Savernake Team Ministry covering eleven local parishes from Savernake in the north to Chute in the south. I like to be known simply as Michael. With my two colleagues, we help tend to the spiritual needs of the five schools in the area. I have, since 2012, travelled with the children and staff in their journeys through life. Together we have faced joys and trials. Both have been shared by the community of school and the community of faith that is St Katharine’s.
Personally, visiting for Collective Worship provides the happy hump in the middle of my working week. I came to ministry with a primary teaching background, which means that I understand from personal experience what can concern both child and adult in this community dedicated to the healthy growth of the pupils. The healthiness of that relationship is evidenced by the ties that pupils maintain with both school and church throughout their lives. It is a community that embraces the whole circle of life, from the small acorn to the impressive oaks we carry in our vision.
