Admissions

This year’s application round for Reception places for September 2019 is now closed.

The school’s Published Admission Number (PAN) for September 2019 will be 15.

By law a child does not have to start school until the term following the fifth birthday. However, most children start school in the September following the fourth birthday.

If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 they are due to start school in September 2019 and you will need to apply for a school place by noon on 15th January 2019. All children will be offered a full time place but, if you would prefer your child to attend part-time or to delay entry until later on in the academic year please contact the school directly to arrange this. All admissions are administered by the Local Authority.

You can apply by completing an application online or by completing a common paper application form. You can find all the information that you need if you follow this link: http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/schools-learning-admissions-applying

In April 2019 letters will be despatched to all parents who submitted an application form by the January deadline, offering a place at one school.  If you have been refused a place at your preferred school you can appeal.

Applications received after the January deadline will be considered after the first round and this means that the outcome of your application will not be determined until late May 2019 at the earliest.  2nd round offers are made on 31 May.

Admissions in other school years

These can be obtained from the school or from County Hall or downloaded via this link In-year Transfer Form and should be returned to County Hall when completed.

As a member of Excalibur Academies Trust all admissions information for admission from 2019/20 is available on the Excalibur Academies website Admissions Page.  Follow this link to see this information: http://excalibur.org.uk/home/about-us/admissions/

Secondary Transition

At the end of year 6, children transfer to secondary school with the majority of our children going to St John’s Marlborough. Applications for a place at secondary school must be made through Wiltshire Council in the Autumn term of year 6. The deadline for secondary school admissions is midnight on 31 October 2019. Your child will bring home a form or you can apply online.

Transfer arrangements for our Year 6 pupils going to St John’s are sent to parents during the Spring Term prior to their children starting in September. These arrangements include visits to St Katharine’s Primary School by St John’s staff, visits made to St John’s by our Year 6 pupils and Parents Evenings when you can visit the school and meet the teachers who will be directly involved with your child/children.
