In our recent Design and Technology project, Chestnut class have shown great enthusiasm and creativity as they embarked on designing and baking their own biscuits.
Working in small groups, the children learned valuable lessons about budgeting – an essential skill in both life and business. They had the opportunity to create their own biscuit recipes, keeping a close eye on costs, which encouraged critical thinking and decision-making skills. Furthermore, they took on the task of designing the packaging for their biscuits, ensuring it would appeal to their target audience. The creativity didn’t stop there! Each group developed their own unique jingle and logo, which helped them to consider branding in a fun and engaging way. In the final stages of the project, each group presented their creations to the class. This was a valuable opportunity for them to practice their presentation skills and receive feedback on their products. To conclude the project, the children evaluated their finished biscuits, discussing what went well and areas they could improve upon next time.
I suspect the final step in the process was to eat them all up!
