Headteacher’s Welcome
St. Katharine’s Church of England primary school is a primary school set in the beautiful and unique location of Savernake forest, drawing many of our number on roll from beyond our catchment area.
We currently have 97 children on roll aged 4-11 who come from a range of villages and hamlets in the surrounding area. We have 4 classes: Hazel (reception/ EYFS) only, Oak (Year 1 & 2 – Key Stage 1), Chestnut (Year 3 & 4 – lower Key Stage 2) and Sycamore (Year 5 & 6 – upper Key Stage 2).
Our school prides itself on the warm and nurturing relationships that it fosters amongst all its stakeholders and members of our very special community. Children are known as individuals; it is our aim not to determine children’s potential but to enable our children to see their potential as unlimited. Children at St. Katharine’s begin a journey as a learner as they walk through our doors for the first time, developing the skills to become independent and engaged in the learning that they do and to take responsibility for that learning. Our aim is that we will instil a love of learning in the children at our school, which they take from us when they leave and that will last them for a lifetime.
Our teaching staff work with energy, enthusiasm and commitment, along with their shared expertise, to plan a varied and creative approach to the curriculum that is taught using the incredible outdoor environment that sits on our doorstep as well as employing innovative uses of technology and other engaging learning resources and teaching approaches.
We have very high aspirations for all of our learners; academically, personally, morally, socially and spiritually; they achieve very well.
Please feel free to book a tour of the school by calling the school office. We are always proud to show prospective parents and children around our very special school.
