Eating in School

School meals are provided by Sue Brady Catering and are cooked offsite.

You can order your child’s Sue Brady meal online. This is best done fortnightly. Sue Brady offers a choice of 2 hot meals, a cold option or a packed lunch.  Parents may choose which days they wish their child to stay to lunch, all payments are made directy to Sue Brady at the point of ordering by visiting her website online at www.suebradycatering.com. Children may bring their own packed lunches to be eaten under supervision in the dining hall. Please be aware that we have some children with severe nut allergies in school and as such we request that any food brought into school is nut-free.

Universal Infant Free School Meals

From September 2014 all pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be eligible for a free school meal. The legal requirement on schools will be to provide a lunchtime meal that meets the School Food Standards. Children will routinely be offered a hot meal option. School meals are healthy, tasty, social and fun and from September choosing a school lunch for your child/children will help save you up to £400 per year if you take up the offer. Meat and vegetarian options are available every day, and we can cater for children who require allergy and/or intolerance diets. For further information contact the School Office or Sue Brady Catering. Please find below the letter sent out at the beginning of this year with all the information about universal free school meals.

Free School Meals

Parents/carers who are in receipt of Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or Child Tax Credit, but who are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16190, are eligible to apply to the Local Authority for free school meals for their children. Application forms are available from the school office. It is important to note that as a school we receive additional funding in relation to the number of children who take up a free school meal (after Year 2). If you think you might be entitled to the above government support do not hesitate to contact us.

Packed Lunches & Healthy Snacks

You may decide to send your child to school with a packed lunch from home. Our broad guidelines are that this is a balanced, nutritious packed meal. Children’s eating is monitored by our mid-day supervisory staff and children are asked to eat the savoury, substantial elements that have been sent in, along with any fruit or vegetables before crisps or cakes.

Children may also bring fruit or other healthy snacks to eat at their mid-morning break. KS1 children are currently provided with free fruit under the national scheme for their mid-morning snack.  Children should NOT bring sweets into school or any products containing nuts.
