On Thursday 22nd September, Sycamore class went to see Maz Evans as part of the Marlborough Literature Festival. Maz was funny, crazy and very nice. She has written three series of books, and they are called: Who Let the Gods Out, VI Spy and Scarlet Fife. Her first and most well-known collection is: Who let the Gods Out? She said that the second book of any series is the hardest to write, so our advice is: Always start with the first book of the series.
Who Let the Gods Out is about a young carer called Elliot. A constellation called Virgo literally crash lands into Eliot’s life. Then, together, they release the evil demon of death: Thanatos. They call on the Ancient Greek gods for help. Can they defeat him?
All of Maz Evans’s books are amazingly brilliant. They all suit her personality especially Scarlet Fife: imagine if when you got angry something actually exploded – that’s what happened to Scarlet. You will know if you are like Scarlet; she has huge feelings. She doesn’t know what will explode next. Maybe a big pot of purple paint or a slimy green smoothie or a big pile of elephant waste!
VI Spy is also, a very popular book.
Imagine… Valentine Day’s mum is a super spy; her dad is a ‘changed’ super-villain. With Umbra (the most evil super villain in the world) back at large and a super device is missing. Can Vi find it to get into spy school?
These are the first books of each series. We hope you want to read them.
