On Wednesday 25th of January, ten Y6’s drove to Bristol for a Lego competition. This year’s theme was ‘Superpowered’. The Lego competition is where, every year, a group of Sycamore Class [ year 5 and 6] go to Bristol to test their computer programming and Lego building skills. We were also asked to deliver a presentation on how we would make energy supply more eco-friendly.
Once we had our team of 10, we spent every Monday evening, after school, working towards getting ready for the competition. We began with doing the simplest missions then, once we had completed those, we moved on to the harder ones. After four months of preparing, it was competition time!
We came eleventh out of 26 at this year’s competition (not bad); we were in sixth until the last round, when things took a bit of turn for the worst (the robot didn’t do what it was told). We weren’t winners this year but we learned loads, put in lots of effort and had a great deal of fun on the way.
